Community

Engagement with the local community is a critical objective of Neoen and is integral to this project. Since the inception of the project, a strategy has been developed to ensure that open dialogue and information transfer can occur with local residents, stakeholders and the wider community in an efficient manner.
The objectives of the community engagement process are:

  • To keep the community and stakeholders informed about the project through the provision of factual project information;
  • To identify and address community and stakeholder concerns and maintain transparency in the project design and implementation;
  • To identify opportunities for local business involvement in the implementation of the project; and
  • To provide feedback on how their input will influence the final project and decision.
  • This website, the community open day held on 13th and 14th of September 2011, the community dinner organised on the 17th October 2014, are a few examples of the ongoing community consultation. Further information regarding the project can be obtained by contacting our team at contact@hornsdalewindfarm.com.au.

Community Benefits

Development of the Hornsdale Wind Farm is producing economic benefits for the Jamestown region well before the first megawatt of electricity is generated.

Scientists, consultants and company executives have been visiting the area for the last two years, providing income for the accommodation and service sectors.

However, this is only part of what is to come with up to 250 jobs expected to be created during the 18-24 month construction phase. The construction phase will also have a large spin-off for the accommodation and service sectors and there will be an ongoing financial boost during the life of the wind farm through land related payments.

The wind farm will also provide ongoing employment for a small team of approximately 10 local people required to operate and maintain the project after it is built.

If you have skills that may be useful during the design and construction of the wind farm, please email us at contact@hornsdalewindfarm.com.au with your contact details and a brief summary of the services and skills you can provide.
